 The mission of the CSUF Dairy Unit is to provide:
1) a quality educational program for
students
2) a
well managed facility capable of demonstrating
management practices and technologies to the industry
at large, and
3) a dairy environment conducive to
conducting quality applied research.
Goals Accomplished
Educational Goals
- Fifteen students have been
actively engaged in the day-to-day operations and
management of the CSUF Dairy Unit.
- Four of these students have
undertaken leadership roles in directing management
areas at the facility.
- Four students from foreign
countries have utilized the facility as part of their
educational experience at CSUF.
- Students have become an integral part of the Units' problem solving team.
- Animal Science courses; 1, 11,
35, 36, 61, 81, 101, 146, 156, 161, 163, 165, 180,
181, and 194 utilize the facility and its cattle to
enhance the hands-on learning experience.
- Thirty students from many majors
utilize the dairy cattle as part of their CSUF Dairy
Club activities.
Demonstrational Goals
- The CSUF Dairy was utilized to
evaluate the use of fly-ash and a synthetic material
in reducing the negative impact of mud in dairy
cattle corrals.
