The Sheep Laboratory provides students with the opportunity to enhance their educational experience in sheep production and management. The unit is a typical farm flock type of production system. The primary goal is the sale of 4-H and FFA project lambs, while still maintaining a purebred flock. In addition, commercial ram production is still of some importance. Students can be involved in practical research, advanced sheep technology and show projects. This diversity provides for applications in management, breeding, nutrition, reproduction, health and marketing. In turn, the exposure to new technology blended with practical experience meets the objectives of a quality education. This is the goal for our Animal Science and Agricultural Education students as well as students in other disciplines at Fresno State.
