The
field crops enterprise produces certified seed grains, feed grains, cotton, corn
for silage and grain, alfalfa and oat hay. One purpose of the enterprise is
teaching students the field aspects of crop production. The certified grain, oat
hay, and cotton crops are mostly grown by students as projects. Students are
also hired to work in the production of all the field crops. All the field crops
serve as laboratory material for such classes as crop science, entomology, weeds
and irrigation.
