The purpose of this enterprise is to expose Fresno State Ornamental Horticulture students to cultural and practical operations commonly encountered in ornamental horticulture production.

The enterprise will provide students with educational experiences in the production of the following crops: nursery plants; potted flowering plant, foliage plants, cut flowers, rental plants, and bedding plants.

Goals Accomplished

• Finished expansion of 15 gallon tree nursery area west of lathhouse.

• Added saran cloth shade structure over bedding plant area between green house #7 and #8

• Have continued to add diversity to shade trees by buying more bare root nursery stock.

Pertinent Operational Data:

Most of the plants are propagated in the Fresno State greenhouse range or purchased as liners and raised to salable size. A nursery license was obtained and nursery production and sales capacity are slowly expanding. Plants are sold at the Farm Market daily, at the O.H. unit every Saturday, and periodically (once a month) in the Free Speech Area on the main campus. Some plants will be produced through plant tissue culture. We have decided to cease production of Christmas trees because of low profitability.
