WEEKLY Educational Wine Tastings - Fresno State Winery

Fall/Spring semesters.  Thursday evenings.  Presented by the Enology Society. No tastings will be held on holidays.   Location:  Enology Bldg. 102. Must be 21 years of age.  Open to the public. 

 

WEEKLY Seminar Series - Fresno State  

Fall semester.  Industry speakers on viticulture and enology topics.  Weekly series held each Wednesday at noon in the Enology Building Room 102.  Free.  Open to the public.

60th Annual Viticulture Club Fall Harvest Dinner, Wolf Lakes in Sanger

The Viticulture Club will present its annual fall harvest social and dinner for industry, alumni, and friends at Wolf Lakes in Sanger.  This event is a fundraiser for the Viticulture Club and includes dinner, raffle and a silent auction. Price: $50.00 adults; children 5-10 years $15.00; and under 5 years free.  Reservations are on a first come, first served basis. Must be 21 years of age or older to consume alcohol.  Location:   11646 E. Ashlan Avenue, Sanger.  Just east of Clovis on Ashlan Avenue.  The Viticulture Club is accepting donations for this fundraiser.  Sponsor a student for only $35.00, or a student table for $280.00.  Checks payable to: CSUF Viticulture Club.  Mail to: Viticulture Club, 2360 E. Barstow Avenue MS VR89, Fresno, CA 93740-8003.

10th Anniversary Celebration - Fresno State Winery

The Fresno State award-winning winery marks its ten year anniversary in 2007.  On Saturday, November 3 the winery will celebrate this milestone with donors, alumni and friends who have helped make it a success.  A brief ceremony and presentation are planned in the winery beginning at 10:30 am on November 3.   RSVP required by October 29 at 278-5391.  This event will be held prior to the 2:00 pm Fresno State football game day at Bulldog Stadium.  For more information, email Jessup Wiley or Cynthia Wood.

Le Vin Nouveau - Fresno State Winery

At one minute past midnight on the third Thursday of each November, cases of Beaujolais Nouveau wine in France are released and shipped throughout the world!  Like our French counterparts, we invite you to come taste our wine on the 3rd Thursday of each November as we celebrate the release of our new Nouveau vintages!  This event will include light hors d'oeuvres and an opportunity to win tickets to the Fresno State Winemaster's Weekend at the Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite held the first weekend in March (February 29-March 1.2007).   Discounts on Le Vin Nouveau admission and wine purchases available.  Presented by the Fresno State Winery, with support from the Department of Viticulture and Enology and the Enology Society. Tasting event open to the public.  Ticket sales limited.  Must be 21 years or older to attend. No children, please.

Filtration Day - Fresno State Winery

A one-day workshop on filtration, sponsored by Pall Corporation has been rescheduled to December 2008.   Learn what you need to know about wine filtration from experts in the field.  Pall Corporation will conduct workshops on the principals of filtration, filter handling and crossflow microfiltration.  Integrity testing and crossflow filtration demonstrations will be conducted by Pall Corporation.    Watch for details next year - in 2008.

Pruning & Sustainable Production Workshop   SAVE THE DATE

A one-day workshop on pruning issues facing grape growers at California State University, Fresno, presented by Central California Winegrowers, in conjunction with the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance.   Registration begins at 7:00 am at Fresno State.  Details forthcoming.  Inside presentations and outdoor machine demonstrations, and lunch.  Continuing education credit available for PA's and PCA's.   RSVP by November 30 to the CCW.   Watch this site for updates.

Unified Wine & Grape Symposium - Sacramento Convention Center 

The Department of Viticulture and Enology and the Viticulture and Enology Research Center will attend and participate in the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium Exposition in Sacramento on January 30 and 31.  Visit our booth. Watch for a Fresno State Alumni and Friends Reunion at this event!   January 30 at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento, Fresno State from 6-8 pm.  Enjoy Fresno State student produced products including wine, raisins, and almonds. Fresno State Winemaster's Weekend - Tenaya Lodge, Yosemite 

 

Wine enthusiasts from all over California will enjoy this weekend event held at the beautiful Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite, just a short drive north of Fresno.  The weekend activities include a wine reception, fun-filled workshops, and a five-course gourmet dinner on Saturday night (March 1 masterfully prepared by the Tenaya's executive chef, featuring award-winning wine and food products from Fresno State's agricultural enterprises.   Two-night package available through the Tenaya Lodge reservations at 877 635-5807 or online at www.tenayalodge.com (Specials and Packages Link).  Dinner only reservations must be made by calling the Guest Experience Center at 559 683-6555, Monday-Friday from 8:00 - 4:30 pm.  Workshops are included in the two-night package and are not sold separately.

Vino Italiano Event - Fresno State Winery  

The Fresno State Vineyards will host the 6th annual Vino Italiano event with support from the Department of Viticulture and Enology and Enology Club at the Fresno State Winery.  This wine tasting will feature the Italian varietals produced by the students at Fresno State.  Held in the evening, the event is open to the public.  Must be 21 years or older to attend. Department of Viticulture and Enology Welcome Back BBQ - California State University, Fresno 

Students, staff, faculty, alumni and friends are welcome to attend the Viticulture and Enology Welcome Back BBQ during the first week of the Fall Semester (Thursday evening, following a brief Student Orientation).  Casual attire.  Held at the Viticulture and Enology facilities on campus.  RSVP  please!   Individuals, Companies and Organizations are invited to help sponsor the event or student attendance.   Cost: $15.     Location:  Viticulture and Enology lawn and gazebo area, 2360 E.
